Namaste from Dingboche!

Well, here is the gist: We didn't make it to Kala Pattar or to Everest Base Camp. We cancelled our Chitwan Jungle Safari to extend our trek from 12 days to 15 in order to accomplish this goal, but health issues have caused us to only reach 15,000 ft in elevation, but all our students should be proud of that feat. How many people get to say they have trekked in the Himalayas and seen Mt. Everest with their own two eyes?

Everyone is alive and well in Dingboche. Speaking to the health issues above, a couple of students had a bout of a rather nasty head cold, with a cough and sore throat. I am currently typing this blog entry with the rather nasty head cold.

Today was a very eventful day. We tried to summit a 5,500 meter mountain, our highest point yet, but we had to turn back when some students began to feel exhaustion and dehydration. The students once again learned the importance of taking care of themselves.

I understand these blog entries are short, but Internet is very expensive the higher you trek up. Tomorrow, we will leave Dingboche and begin our five day trek back to Lukla, catch a flight on April 12 back to Kathmandu and take a nice long shower.

I would post pictures, but as I mentioned before, Internet is very expensive up here.

Until next time!

Namaste!
